Ghana!

Ghana has emerged one of the most popular tourist destinations in West Africa. It is often referred to as the best destination to travel for first time travelers to Africa due to the political and economic stability as well as warmth and hospitality of its people for which it is famous the world over. Once a British colony, known as the 'Gold Coast' , Ghana was the first African colony to attain independence from the British in 1957.

The country has a diverse and varied landscape wherein the southern part of the country consists of pristine beaches and tropical rainforests, the northern part is dry and savannah like area. The Northern region is also home to Mole National Park, which is one of the biggest National Parks in the country. Over here you can see wild animals such as elephants, baboons and antelopes which are more associated with the safaris in Eastern Africa.

Further south, there are many attractions to see and visit. You can take the exciting canopy walk at Kakum National Park or visit the Cape Coast Castle to get reminded of the country's importance as a station for African slaves.

Life in Ghana is relaxed and easy. By spending time with the local people you will learn about their elaborate festivals, the local cuisine comprising of Banku and Fufu - Ghana's most famous dishes, their colorful dresses and the music and dances.
