Volunteer with Street Children in Delhi - India
Volunteering in the Street Children project with Volunteering Solutions gives you an incredible opportunity to bring smiles on the faces of disadvantaged children as well as render valuable support to organizations working for the cause of these children. There are about 100 million street children in India who do not attend any school and spend most of their time on the streets. In Delhi, the capital city, it is estimated that there are close to 1, 75,000 street children of which 10 % are runaways. In fact there are more than 2500 children who live in and around New Delhi Railway Station. They can be seen scavenging the rubbish heap for a meal, sleeping between the tracks , often beaten and sexually abused , falling prey to drug peddlers and child traffickers.
