Volunteer Healthcare / Medical Program in Kenya

Volunteer in Medical / Healthcare program in KenyaThe Living conditions of the people living in the slums and suburbs of Nairobi is very poor which in turn leads to widespread diseases. The healthcare facilities are neither easily accessible for them nor of very good standards.
Our volunteers in the Healthcare program work in medical clinics, dispensaries and hospitals in and around the city of Nairobi. Volunteer tasks vary and depend on the level of experience, qualifications, medical training etc.

Pre Medical students assist the local doctors and staff in doing basic tasks such as checking weight and temperature of the students, cleaning wounds and also doing administrative tasks in the placement.
Whereas medical students are given tasks according to their knowledge, they generally help in checking blood pressure, suturing wounds, doing rounds with patients and  work in areas of maternal health, surgery, laboratories, counseling and testing etc.

This program is particularly suited for those volunteers who are interested in health issues and doing ‘hands on’ clinical work. Volunteers work for around 5-6 hrs in a day for 5 days in a week. Volunteers schedule is flexible and can vary depending on the needs of the placement.
