Your Role in the Program.
Once The volunteer
program allows you to work in medical centers, clinics and hospitals run by
Ngo's in Nepal for the downtrodden. Volunteers work alongside doctors and nurses
to take care of patients. Volunteers are given work in accordance to their
experience and knowledge in the medical field. This is also a great opportunity
for medical students to help and learn while experiencing new working
environment abroad.
Skills and Educational Requirements.
There is no educational requirement for this project; anyone with a heart to help is welcome on this project! However proficiency in English is required. People should be patient,
committed and willing to learn.
Project Location.
The project is located in Kathmandu the capital of Nepal.
Language & Orientation Week in Kathmandu
You have the option to start your volunteering with a week long language & culture orientation week in Nepal . The week aims to provide important Language instructions, safety tips, and cultural knowledge before volunteers start their work. Volunteers would also be give a 2 day tour around Delhi to see the beautiful sights it has to offer.
What we provide
Airport Receive/ Transfer: Our representative will greet you at the airport and will transfer you to your hotel/placement/home stay.
Orientation: A half day orientation will be provided by our staff. We cover areas like, culture, greetings, locations, transportation etc. Each participant will be provided with a local Map of the city or Start your volunteering experience by taking the 1 week language & culture orientation week in Nepal
Lodging: Almost all placements have residential accommodation arrangements, however if that is not available volunteers will be staying with a local welcoming and educated family.
Food: 2 or 3 Nepali meals will be provided in this project depending on accommodation type.
Insurance: All participants are covered for full comprehensive travel and medical insurance for their time of stay in our project.
In – Country travel assistance: If participants like to travel around, we provide with full support for bookings & arrangements to travel with
Nepal or Nepal.
In-country support: 24 hours support provided by our local staff.
Pre-departure information: After we receive full and final payment all participants are provided by a pre-departure information booklet by e-mail which will have all vital information about your program. |

Arrival Date - Arrive 1 day prior to your start date and Volunteering Solutions would arrange pickup and accommodation.
Working Hours - 25-30 hours per week
Food Type - Vegetarian
Accommodation Type - Host Family or On-site accommodation. Volunteers share room with fellow volunteers.
Local Transport - Volunteering Solutions does not provide any local transport. All volunteers usual use
local bus or taxi which are safe and cheap mode of
transport in Nepal.

Start on any date! Volunteering Solutions provides complete flexibility and you can start on any date on the year to join our programs. (Unless you join the language & culture orientation week in Nepal which starts 1st, 2nd and 3rd Monday of every month throughout the year, followed by volunteer program of your choice in
Nepal.)

Application Deposit - $200 - An application deposit is required along with the application to process your application. This is not a

When do I need to arrive in Nepal for my program? |

You can come one day in advance from your program starting date. |

What will happen once I arrive in Nepal? |

Our staff will be there to meet and greet you at the airport and from there you will be taken to the project or hostel depending on the time of your arrival. |

Once you have applied, we will send you details of your placement usually within 10 working days.

How do I get to the program location? |

Your country coordinator will take you to your placement and introduce you to everyone after giving you a basic orientation about the program/city/culture etc. |

I want to know more about accommodation arrangements? |
| Ans. |
We provide you with accommodation from your start date to the end of the program. Accommodation will either be in a host family or arranged at your program location itself. You will have your own room, which you might share with another volunteer. You should bring along things like, mosquito net, mosquito repellent and your own soaps and shampoos.

You will get freshly cooked food 2/3 times a day depending on your program. Food is usually vegetarian as non vegetarian food is seldom cooked in most Nepali households. |

Yes and if you are vegan this will not be a problem. |

What is the age range to volunteer? |
| Ans. |
You must be 18 years or older to volunteer. The maximum age limit is 55 yrs. We also allow people below 18 (till 16yrs) if they are accompanied by an adult. |

What immunizations/vaccinations will I need? |
| Ans. |
We recommend you speak to your doctor before coming. The following are recommended vaccinations:
- Tetanus and diphtheria
- Polio
- Hepatitis A and B
- Typhoid
- Rabies
- Japanese B encephalitis
- Tuberculosis recommended if living with local people for 3 months.

Do I need to speak English to volunteer? |

English is the only language apart from Nepali which is understood by many people in Nepal, you will need to be good at spoken English to come and volunteer in Nepal. |

Can couples or families join the volunteer program? |

You can come in couples or groups as long as most people are above 18. We cannot accommodate anyone below the age of 16 even if they are accompanied by a family. |

Are there more expenses once I arrive in Nepal? |

Your program fee covers you for food and accommodation. You will need to cover yourself for your personal expenses, such as
traveling, telephone, internet, shopping, sightseeing etc.
Traveling within Nepal is cheap; however, you should carry at least $100 per week for yourself. |

You can change money in any bank or at the airport by showing your passport. |

There are few ATM’s in Nepal. You will find plenty of ATM’s specially in the tourist areas of Nepal. |

Yes there is usually a phone at every placement we provide. However you will have to use Internet café’s to use Internet. It is strongly recommended that you carry a mobile phone while
traveling to Nepal. You can get international roaming or can simply buy a local sim card from the airport when you arrive.

What hours will I volunteer every day? |

Volunteers usually work for 5‐6 hours a day depending on their program. You will have weekend off so you can go to travel on weekends. However some organizations will need you to work on some Saturdays as well. |

traveling in weekends? |
| Ans. |
You will usually have 2 free days per week, you can utilize this time for anything you like. All costs are at the volunteer's expense.

What visa do I need to get, will I get any help? |
| Ans. |
You need to apply for a tourist visa. You can easily get tourist visa for Nepal in your home country. It usually takes about 7 working days to get a visa for Nepal. However you can get VISA ON ARRIVAL in Kathmandu Airport as well. It is much easier to obtain. |
