Volunteer Teaching to Monks in Sri Lanka

Volunteers Teach English to adorable Lankan Monks. Children are from 5 – 14 age and both boys/girls. The school is in Galle and Kosgoda about 100kms from the Capital of Colombo. Volunteers will teach a about 6-7 hours a day and will have weekends off.  Volunteers teaching helps the children to develop self confidence and improve their English significantly. Volunteer will be assisted by local teachers and staff at the schools to help communicate well with the children. Volunteers would be given books and lesson plans to help teach in a proper manner.

You need not be an expert in grammar. Starting with basics of the language, the poor kids can be delighted if they are able to learn simple, short sentences which enables them to understand English speaking people and express themselves in the same language. You can assist the staff of the local schools in evolving new ways of teaching in a playway method. Whatever activity you would be do – be it playing games, dancing, going to a picnic or outing – your language of communication would be English and the kids would pick up the language naturally.
