Volunteer Healthcare Program in Tanzania

Medical/Healthcare volunteering in TanzaniaOur volunteers in the Healthcare program work in medical clinics, dispensaries and hospitals in and around the city of Arusha. Volunteer tasks vary and depend on the level of experience, qualifications etc. Pre Medical students assist the local doctors and staff in doing basic tasks such as checking weight and temperature of the students, cleaning wounds and also doing administrative tasks in the placement. Whereas medical students are given tasks according to their knowledge, they generally help in checking blood pressure, suturing wounds, doing rounds with patients and work in areas of maternal health, surgery, laboratories, counseling and testing etc.

This program is particularly suited for those volunteers who are interested in health issues and doing ‘hands on’ clinical work.

We accept Pre Med, Medical and Nursing students as well as Medical professionals such as Doctors and nurses. Volunteers work for around 5-6 hrs in a day for 5 days in a week. Volunteers schedule is flexible and can vary depending on the needs of the placement

Volunteering Solutions also arranges Dentistry and Elective placements in Tanzania. Dentistry volunteers work in dental department in hospital placements in Arusha. The placements are suitable for dental students looking to do a Dental Elective Program in Africa and gain some valuable knowledge and experience by working under the supervision of dentists and dental assistants.
