Pre DepartureVolunteering Solutions was very thorough and communicative before my departure. They answered my questions quickly and made sure I had all I needed for my trip. They made sure I was safe and knowledgeable , very good.
Arrival and Airport Pickup
My arrival went very smoothly. I found my coordinator right away as he was holding a sign with my name on it and we talked as we rode in his van. He made me feel comfortable and welcome.
Placement and Volunteer Project
I began by teaching English to monks but decided to switch to teaching school children in a local village. I loved teaching the kids and talking with their parents and felt welcomed into the community. While in school I had the kids study grammar, vocabulary and geography and we would finish by playing games and singing songs.
Host family and meals
My host family was wonderful. The family was very warm and kind. I was very well looked after. The house is very comfortable and has a good location in relationship to temples, schools and the town. The food was wonderful and always available.
Would you recommend this program to future volunteers ?
