Volunteer at a Children's Home in Chiang Mai

Volunteers at Girls home orphanage in Chiang MaiVolunteers working in the Orphanage program work within a Children's home where the children are in the age group of five to fifteen years.

The children range in age from 4 to 16 years old. Many of the children are of ethnic hill-tribe decent, which is different than Thai ethnicity.

Volunteers will spend time with the children, help cook, help clean, try to engage the children in different activities – sports, games, arts and crafts, help them with their homework, etc.

Volunteers also devote their entire project to maintenance tasks like painting, tending grounds or fixing appliances apart from working with the children in the orphanage.

The contribution of volunteers is helpful at two levels. Firstly , they can help with daily tasks at the orphanage which would in turn help the staff at the orphanage. Secondly, they can spend time with the children and giving them the much needed love and attention which they are deprived of. Simply spending time with the girls at the center also helps them to a great extent.

The project involves 5 days of work in a week for around 4-5 hrs. This can also vary on day to day basis.Majority of the volunteers working in this project stay at volunteer house accommodation and work at the children's home. At one of the project placements, volunteers stay within the orphanage itself in separate volunteer accommodation.
