Volunteer Teaching English in Bangkok-Ayutthaya

Teaching Volunteer in Ayutthaya - ThailandVolunteering in the Teaching Project in Ayutthaya - Thailand is an incredible way to work along with local Thai people and gain valuable practical work experience in Thailand.

Volunteers in this program teach simple conversational English in Primary schools (grade 1-6 or age 5-12) as well as Secondary schools (grade 7 to 12).Volunteers work for about 4-5 hours a day from Monday to Friday.

There are two types of schools in Thailand; government and private. Our teaching program is mainly with government funded schools. These schools are fully government supported. Teachers are regarded as government officers and usually have very good reputation in the society. Students also respect them very much. They stand up every time you enter the class room and say, “Good morning/afternoon, teacher!” .It is common that students “WAI”, a Thai way of showing respect to superiors, even if they meet teachers on the way, or in the market.

As a volunteer you need to assess the level of English of the students first before starting teaching, then you can make your mind what to teach and from which level to start. Teaching is, therefore, very flexible and simple. You will be teaching practical conversational English using your own skill or talent e. g. by telling story, playing games, performing drama etc. whatever way you like.

The students are delightful and love to have volunteers in their school. It is a good opportunity for them to practice their English speaking skills with some native speakers of English, which they are usually not used to.

All the schools have semester system. First semester starts from mid-May remains until the end of September or the first week of October. The second semester starts from first week of November until March.

Note: During the holiday period volunteers can take extra classes or work in Childcare program.
