If you wish to get your hands dirty and do some hard work for ensuring a better life for the underprivileged people living in the favela, then you must join the Manual Labour Volunteering Program in Brazil.
You'll be working alongside the favela residents, helping them to have a better living by constructing homes, painting them, and set up a better colony. Your manual labor assistance will allow local residents to pursue projects that they’ve been waiting to accomplish for years. Often, we fail to realize the importance of having a shelter and tend to take it for granted, but only when you'll volunteer for this project, you'll know how much it matters to certain people.
This program would be perfect for high school and college students as well as gap year travelers who wish to gain first hand international work experience.
As a volunteer, your main roles and responsibilities would be:
Volunteers can expect to work 8 hours a day, 4 times a week. A typical day looks like the following. However, please keep in mind each day varies depending on the project and the volunteer
7:30/8 AM - 9 AM: Have breakfast at hostel and travel to the project.
9 AM - 12 PM: Begin project, working in the local community.
12 PM - 1 PM: Have lunch at a local restaurant.
1 PM - 4 PM: Continue working on the project.
4 PM - 5 PM: Clean up, prepare for departure, and return to the hostel.
