Day Trips in Phnom Penh
Even in the city of Phnom Penh, there’s so much to explore that you can actually make good use of the weekends! Start your day by visiting the Killing Fields - Choeung Ek, a place where millions of Cambodians were killed during the 1970s. Take the audio guided tour, and you’ll get to know about the dark past of the country, in utmost details. From there, head off to S21 Museum and then the National Museum. In the evening, visit the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda.
Weekend Trip to Sihanoukville

Like many other Southeast Asian countries, Cambodia has two seasons., dry and rainy. The dry season runs from November to May, which is when you will experience the best of the sunshine, as well as higher temperatures!
That’s not to say that all throughout the rainy season there is no sun. Both rain and bright weather can happen during either season, so don’t feel let down by either!

We have fantastic opportunities to take on a medical mission in Cambodia! Our Phnom Penh project is a fantastic opportunity to experience medical care under a new context and different system to your home country. Your knowledge complemented by the learning you will gain from this program will make you an unrivalled candidate for medical programs, as well as progressing your current career.
To join you must be at least 18 years of age, as well as an open mind and flexible attitude for working in a new and different environemnt. Medical volunteers must provide a clean criminal background chech report, CV, passport copy as well as other documents and credentials pertaining to their qualifications prior to joining the program. Medical and nursing students are welcome to join this program!
Medical volunteering in Cambodia is made easier than ever by VolSol! SImply apply, upload your details, and we will handle your booking. This project is best suited to those with substantial medical knowledge, so students in their penultimate/final year and qualified professionals would find much to get involved with on this project. Your main roles would be assisting in the daily procedures of the hospital, taking round of the wards, maintaining files, and doing routine patient checkups. Depending on your skills, you may even be able to join in on major surgeries and operations!
You will be able to choose between 3-4 of the following departments:
Volunteers must dedicate at least two weeks to this project. If you have longer than two weeks, you can get really stuck in and volunteer across a few of these fascinating departments! You would be adding to an already extensive repertoire of skills, and using your knowledge to the best of your abilities to help others. What’s not to love?
Short term volunteering is a breeze with us! Our volunteer programs in Cambodia start at a minimum duration of 2 weeks, so that you can make the greatest impact possible! Our programs working with children, as well as our medical project are all 2 weeks minimum stay, allowing you to immerse yourself in the local culture and understand the challenges the community face. Of course! Whilst visiting a new country and city, you will most certainly want to enjoy all of the sights it has on offer. Cambodia is full of incredible landmarks for you to visit!
You can spend your evenings after the project traversing the streets, exploring the markets and other hidden gems in the Cambodian capital. The recent violent history of the country can be seen right in the heart of the city, where you can visit Choeung Ek - The Killing Fields - where millions of Cambodian people lost their lives during the 1970’s. Guided tours and museums will help illustrate this dark past even further, and help you fully appreciate how far Cambodia has come since this time.
Over the weekend, you can enjoy a trip to Angkor Wat, an ancient complex of temples dating back to the 12th century. You will see the marks of history here, with soldiers using the complex as a shelter during the Cambodian Civil War and Khmer Rouge. Bullet holes can be seen from that era.
You can also explore the natural beauty Cambodia has on offer, with a cruise along the mighty Mekong River. You will see the blend of city life and wildlife, and how people live in tandem with the river. We also provide a trip to Sihanoukville, a beautiful beachside town where you can soak up the rays on soft white sand, next to the turquoise waters of the sea.
