Volunteering Solutions offers this amazing volunteering program which aims to serve food to approximately 50 persons on a daily basis. These people belong to the economically disadvantaged section of society and often come here for their daily meals.
The Community Soup Kitchen Volunteering Program will give you the opportunity to interact with people of all ages, who don't have enough economic strength and mostly rely on these community kitchens for their regular meals.
As a volunteer, it'll be a great learning journey for you, as you'll not only get to cook on a large scale, but also serve food to the hungry and get to know more about them (and their lives). It'll surely be an eye-opening journey for you, and turn you into a more humble & compassionate person. No matter whether you are a high school student or a gap year traveler, you'll surely get to make a difference through your valuable contributions.
As a volunteer for the Soup Kitchen Program, you'll have the following tasks to perform:
Volunteers will work from Monday to Friday between 8 AM to 1 PM mostly. Sometimes, there might be work on Saturdays and Sundays as well, but that's very rare!
On weekdays, you can make good use of the afternoon. You can choose to attend Spanish language classes, or go for a walk along the beachside or just explore Valencia.
You can travel to Granada, Barcelona or Madrid during the weekends. If you wish to try out some adventure sports like skydiving or scuba, then you can go for that as well.
Your volunteering adventure in Spain will only get better with Volunteering Solutions. Like we keep saying, just pack your bags and arrive.
Volunteers are provided pickup from the Valencia Airport. The airport is served by some major airlines such as Iberia, Lufthansa, Ryan Air, Air France, Air Berlin and Transavia and has direct flights from major cities in Europe. Participants doing the project in Denia can also be provided from Alicante Airport.
All volunteers will be provided with an orientation session by the local coordinator. Areas like safety, locations, transportation, things to see etc will be covered in the Orientation. After your orientation is over, you will be introduced to your project.
Volunteer Accommodation is provided in a single room in a shared apartment. Accommodation is very comfortable with good facilities available. The rooms are well furnished and the apartment has a fully functional kitchen as well. Volunteers who want to cook their own meals can do so. Couples or friends travelling together can also be provided accommodation in shared room together. Participants also have an option to choose to stay at a host family by paying extra charges.
Meals are not included and participants can cook their own meals in the apartment or choose to eat at the numerous restaurants and cafes in the city.
There is lot to do during your free time and on weekends. On the weekdays volunteers usually work from morning to afternoon and the rest of the day volunteers will have time to relax, go to the beach, join our cultural activities, explore the city, practice sports and go for tapas. On the weekends, volunteers can travel by train or bus to Barcelona or go to main Valencia town as well.
