You’ll arrive at Phnom Penh International Airport where our local team will be waiting for you and will take you to our centrally located hotel.
We shall take you for a day trip - visiting Wat Phnom Temple, Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, the Russian Market and Choeng Ek Killing Fields outside of Phnom Penh as well as other sights.
We will depart Phnom Penh by river, boarding a comfortable 2-deck wooden boat. We will cruise along Phnom Penh’s riverside on the Tonle Sap River and then along the Mekong River.
We will cruise up the Mekong, stopping for excursions at a local silk weaving village and an island pagoda before arriving at a sandy beach where we will stop for lunch and you can go for swimming if you want. Afterwards, we will continue towards Siem Reap.
Note: When the water is low (March – April) we may not be able to dock at the island beach for swimming and occasional bad weather may mean that the boat trip is replaced by a coach trip – your safety is always prioritized.
Today we’ll be going to explore the wonders of Angkor Wat. We shall meet up in the morning and take a bicycle ride towards the temple complex and follow a loop that passes by many of the main temples.
You will visit the highlights of Angkor, including Angkor Thom, Bayon, the Terraces of the Elephants and Leper King and Angkor Wat itself.
Today, you’ll see some of the areas surrounding Siem Reap with a little bit of trekking, cooling off in a waterfall and also seeing the unique pink sandstone Citadel of Women. In the evening we’ll enjoy a buffet dinner and Apsara Dance Show.
Breakfast and dinner included
Today, we’ll be back to exploring more of the Angkor Wat complex including Ta Prohm, the jungle temple and Neak Poan, the serpent lake temple among others. In the afternoon, we will climb Bakheng Mountain where we can watch the sunset over the Angkor temple complex and the vast Western Baray, an ancient reservoir.
A free day in Siem Reap – rest and relax, explore this bustling town that has become a real backpackers’ hub or even head off on an optional activity.
Say goodbye to Siem Reap and the wonders of Angkor Wat as we head back to Phnom Penh by boat* and then by road to Kompong Speu, the site for the volunteer teaching project.
*NOTE – when the water levels are low we will need to replace to boat trip with a coach on the roads. Water levels can be unpredictable and we are often not sure of the conditions, until a few days before the trip.
For the next 5 days you will be based in Kompong Speu, a rural part of Cambodia, where you will work to help improve the English language levels of local youngsters.
Don’t worry - lots of support and advice will be provided to you! Not only will you be able to make a positive impact on the community but you’ll also gain a fascinating insight about the rural life and learn hugely about the region from the local team in Kompong Speu.
Time for the beach!
We’ll head from Kompong Speu to the lively beach town of Sihanoukville, for a well earned rest, and sunshine (hopefully!) and a lovely warm sea to relax and swim!
Today we’ll head by boat towards the surrounding islands, and you’ll have time for snorkeling and swimming at a number of beaches.
Lunch will be served on board and we’ll get back to Sihanoukville in the afternoon.
Note: If the weather is bad, this trip will be delayed until later in your time at the beach. However, if the weather remains bad we will arrange an alternative day trip in Sihanoukville.
Days 16 – 19
Enjoy some free time to relax by the beach, explore Sihanoukville and surrounding area and generally soak up the atmosphere at this lively coastal region.
Say goodbye to the beach as we leave Sihanoukville today and head back for one final night in Phnom Penh.
After a final night in Phnom Penh, it’s time to head back home or towards new adventures and experiences.
Check out time is around 11:00am this morning.

Volunteering Solutions Cambodia Reviews
I definitely came home with much more love than I had to give through the amazing locals who were ever so friendly and welcoming..
The kids there are enthusiastic and very smart. They are willing to express themselves and show great respect to us as teachers. .
I lived in a family and enjoyed that a lot. I was satisfied with the meals. The local coordinator was an experienced and friendly person. .
Accommodation and meals were fantastic! Better than my imagination. The in-country staff were really helpful and I really appreciate them. .
It was great value, the meals and accommodation were excellent for the price. There is great need for English education in Cambodia so our efforts were appreciated by locals..
I liked my program placement. I felt like even though I only stayed for eight weeks, I was able to feel like my presence was very much appreciated and helpful. .
I very much enjoyed my program placement. The staff at the placement made me feel very welcome and the children were also a joy to teach. .
The whole culture of the country was amazing! The family I stayed with were very welcoming and allowed me to become more immersed in the culture and the children in the orphanage will always hold a special place in my heart. I never thought I would feel so loved and be able to return it so unconditi.
The placement was very organized and the children and staff were very friendly and accommodating. The children were very keen to learn which made for a fulfilling experience..
It was a unique experience to teach but I loved playing with the kids too ! The river cruise was lovely and meeting the other volunteers was great..
Beautiful kids. Very hard to say good bye ! Very appreciative. We are very happy with the placement..
Really enjoyed working in the Orphanage I would have liked to have more time but we could only manage a few weeks. Was more than we expected and was tough/sad leaving at the end. Orphanage works really well, it seems very well organized and all the staff were admirable..
I made some great new friends with other volunteers, spend weekends exploring other areas in Cambodia and made awesome memories making popcorn and having slumber parties with 85 really inspired children..
My coordinator was very helpful and constantly checking in to make sure everything was alright as well as working to make sure that I was having a pleasant experience. I would recommend the Cambodia program. It was wonderful. There are many days back home in the United States when I wish I was in Camb.
I could not have done this without the help from the Volunteering Solutions team. What I really appreciated was how flexible they were with me - especially seeing as I planned it at the last minute..
There were no problems with the arrival and airport pick up. The Orphanage i was placed to was very well organized with many teachers and other volunteers and my impression was that they don't need any additional help..
The house was very nice and had everything that I needed. The family were wonderful and very accommodating. The children were amazing and so happy all the time. I really enjoyed my month here and will really miss everyone..
