Volunteer at a Socio Educational Center for Children
Volunteering in this project allows individuals to engage with the community, support education, and promote social change. Volunteers assist in workshops that teach social skills, problem-solving, and empathy, while also helping with homework and art classes. The project aims to improve children's chances for independent living by addressing both their educational and emotional needs.
In Argentina, 6 out of every 10 children and adolescents up to 17 years old are living in poverty and struggle to fully access the necessary food, education, and healthcare.
Volunteering for this project connects you with the community on a deeper level. You will have the opportunity to interact with diverse groups of people, learn about their stories, and build meaningful relationships. This engagement fosters a sense of belonging and a greater understanding of societal issues.This experience is not only about helping others but also about personal growth, cultural exchange, and contributing to positive social change. Every day, the organisation coordinates social, artistic, and educational workshops for kids and teenagers. Volunteers assist teachers in enhancing the children’s competence and awareness in social areas, such as understanding and following societal rules, adjusting their behavior to various situations, problem-solving, and empathizing with others. Volunteers also help with homework and participate in art classes. Supporting the children in these areas is vital to giving them the best chance of living independently in the future.

Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities
Volunteers in a socio-educational project can engage in a variety of activities:

Assist teachers: Volunteers can help teachers of different subjects like English, maths, science, sport or arts.

Requirements & eligibility
Volunteers must be 18 years or older at the time of joining the project. You need to have an open mind and a flexible attitude for working in a new and different environment. The volunteer should bring energy and enthusiasm to make a difference. Participants must be fit and healthy at the time of joining the program. Participants should have no criminal convictions and should provide a clean criminal background check report.

Un día típico
Volunteers work 20 – 25 hours per week. There are mornings and/or afternoon shifts. It depends on the needs of the organisation.

Airport Transfers
We will pick you up upon arrival; our transfer service will be waiting for you with a sign with your name. It is very important that you send us your flight information beforehand. It takes about 40 minutes to get from the airport to the accommodation. Please bear in mind that the transfer back to the airport is not included, you will need to take a taxi or a bus when you finish your project.
Accommodation and Meals
Our local partner team in Cordoba manages two hostel accommodations which are located in strategically important points of the city; near business areas, shopping centers, theaters, cinemas, bars and restaurants. Our guests will be able to enjoy their independence, and at the same time, get to know friends from all over the world. The best choice if you want to share time with students of different countries and diverse cultures; you will be able to enjoy the independence that you need, and at the same time, getting to know friends from all over the world. The hostel is fully equipped, hot shower, TV and Wi-Fi access available. We do not offer meals; you will have a fully equipped kitchen to cook or a cheap restaurant or a bar to buy food nearby. Supermarkets are open from 8 am to 10 pm.
Weather
Depending on the time of the year Cordoba could be very hot or very cold. The temperature during summer varies from 29°C to 40°C o and the temperature in winters varies from 2°C degrees to 15°C or 18°C. Sometimes you wrongly assume that Latin America is always hot, but this is not true for Argentina. It can be really cold in winter especially for projects that are located in the middle of the mountains.
During your free time
Cordoba is the second largest city in the country. Its Jesuit heritage and its strong Spanish vividness result in a fascinating blend of past and modernity. Cordoba is also a university city, home to several colleges and universities which endow it with a youthful and forward-looking environment in many different aspects. This is the reason why people from Cordoba are kind, friendly, and open-minded, and easily integrate their visitors and students, a really valuable distinctive feature.The people of Cordoba are known as fun-loving folks with a fondness for cuarteto music, rally car racing, and the drink of Fernet and Coke. Feel free to linger over a long lunch, relax in the square with a coffee or ice cream, and meet a few of the laid back locals.Its rugged outskirts provide plenty of adventurous activities like parasailing and horseback riding.

¿Cuándo debo postular a los programas de voluntariado en Argentina?
Dado que tenemos plazas limitadas en nuestros programas y atendemos por orden de llegada, se recomienda encarecidamente solicitar y reservar plaza con suficiente antelación. Puede reservar su plaza completando un formulario en línea y abonando la cuota de solicitud. Una vez completada la solicitud, se activará su "Mi Cuenta" individual, donde recibirá la confirmación de su plaza y podrá abonar la cuota del programa. También puede abonar la cuota posteriormente, pero 45 días antes del inicio del programa.
¿Cuánto tiempo tardará en procesarse mi solicitud? ¿Será aceptada?
Tras completar tu solicitud, tu cuenta personalizada "Mi Cuenta" se activará. Deberás subir tu CV/currículum vitae junto con tu foto. Nuestro equipo administrativo y la plataforma de colocación tardan entre 10 y 12 días en revisar tu solicitud. Tras revisar tu CV y documentos, tu reserva queda confirmada y se actualiza en tu cuenta "Mi Cuenta". Algunos proyectos requieren una verificación de antecedentes penales obligatoria, la cual se menciona en la información del programa. La aprobación de tu solicitud depende de tu cualificación y de los criterios de elegibilidad de cada proyecto.
¿Hay algún requisito necesario para participar en los programas?
- Debes ser respetuoso con otras culturas.
- Debes ser tolerante con los demás y respetar las diferencias.
- Debes dar la bienvenida al trabajo en equipo, pero también ser capaz de trabajar solo.

¿Puedo ser voluntario como parte de un grupo?
Para voluntarios individuales:
Llegarás en la misma fecha de inicio que otros voluntarios que se incorporen al mismo tiempo y formarás parte de una cohorte para tu programa. Esto significa que compartirás el mismo día de orientación, alojamiento y experiencia en general; una excelente manera de conocer gente nueva y hacer amigos de todo el mundo. El mejor momento para unirte si quieres conocer a muchos otros voluntarios es julio y agosto, ya que son los meses más populares.
Para grupos:
Si ya tienes un grupo, también aceptamos solicitudes de grupos universitarios, de instituto, de empresas, familias y de amigos. Tu grupo puede rellenar nuestro Formulario de Solicitud de Grupo, indicando detalles como el número de participantes, la duración deseada, el presupuesto y el destino. Nos esmeramos en ofrecerle a tu grupo la ubicación que mejor se adapte a sus objetivos y podemos personalizar su itinerario para garantizar que obtengas exactamente la experiencia que buscas. Para grupos de cinco o más personas, incluso podemos diseñar programas grupales especiales que combinan un voluntariado significativo con inmersión cultural y oportunidades de viaje. Todos nuestros programas, ya sean individuales o grupales, están diseñados para ser seguros, asequibles y gratificantes, ofreciendo a cada voluntario una experiencia memorable e impactante.
¿Puedo aplicar con un amigo?
¡Sí! En nuestro formulario de solicitud, puedes indicar el nombre de tu(s) amigo(s) o pareja con quien(es) solicitas. Compartirás el mismo proyecto y alojamiento que tu amigo.
¿VolSol proporciona una referencia o un certificado después de finalizar el programa?
Sí, le entregaremos el certificado tras completar satisfactoriamente su programa. El certificado se entrega previa solicitud.
¿Necesito hablar español para unirme a los programas en Argentina?
Hablar español no es un requisito obligatorio para participar en los programas; sin embargo, su conocimiento sería una ventaja adicional. Se recomienda a los voluntarios tener un nivel básico de español. También podemos organizar clases de español en Córdoba. Para ciertos programas, se requiere un nivel intermedio de español.
¿Cómo llego a la ubicación del programa?
Tu coordinador de programa o un miembro del equipo coordinador local te acompañará a tu lugar de prácticas el primer día y te presentará a todos tras darte una orientación básica sobre el programa, sus alrededores y otras instalaciones. A partir del segundo día, tendrás que desplazarte solo hasta el lugar del programa.
¿Puedo saber más sobre los arreglos de alojamiento y comida?
Los voluntarios en Córdoba se alojan en uno de los dos albergues céntricos de Córdoba. Ambos están ubicados en zonas estratégicas cerca de centros comerciales, distritos financieros, cines, teatros, bares y restaurantes.
Los albergues ofrecen las siguientes instalaciones:
- Instalaciones compartidas totalmente equipadas
- duchas calientes
- Acceso a TV y Wi-Fi
- Una cocina totalmente equipada para cocinar.
No se proporcionan comidas, pero los voluntarios pueden preparar su propia comida o visitar restaurantes y cafeterías cercanos y económicos. Los supermercados abren de 8:00 a 22:00. Estos albergues son ideales para voluntarios que disfrutan de su independencia y al mismo tiempo conocen a viajeros y estudiantes de todo el mundo.
Los voluntarios del programa Reserva de Pumas y Santuario de Caballos se alojan en las instalaciones del proyecto. Se les proporciona comida en el mismo lugar.
¿Qué vacunas necesitaré?
Si viaja desde un país con riesgo de transmisión del virus de la fiebre amarilla (YFV), deberá mostrar prueba de vacunación contra la fiebre amarilla.
Además de esto, se recomienda a los viajeros tomar las siguientes vacunas:
- Hepatitis A y B
- Tifoidea
- Tétanos
