We’re sure it has always been a dream of yours to volunteer in Bali, and we’re here to help make that dream a reality!
Whether volunteering abroad for the first time or as a returning VolSol alumnus, we can help you choose a Bali volunteer program today! If you’re looking to make a lasting impact on our volunteer organisations in Bali and truly become a global citizen, our teams are ready for you to get in touch and help find the perfect volunteering opportunity for you.
The ‘how’ in how to volunteer abroad in Bali is a pretty simple process that our team can guide you through. The hard part is choosing a program that you want to get involved in! Our Bali volunteer experiences offer a breadth of opportunities to work with those in need of the support and contributions you can offer. We have three different locations, the picturesque and enchanting Permuteran, the impressive Tianyar, and the hidden gem of Serangan.
We have a great range of volunteering opportunities in Bali to choose from! Tianyar is your location if you are hoping to volunteer with children in Bali. Our Kindergarten Volunteer Program and Teaching Program are incredible projects that will allow you to make a lasting impact whilst immersing yourself in the local culture.
If you’re hoping to volunteer in Bali as a teacher, then our teaching Program in the one for you! We have coordinated with local Balinese organisations to provide volunteers to support their work educating children in irregular situations. If you are a budding teacher or teaching assistant, you can help with the creation of plans and material to teach the children, as well as delivering the lessons and helping out in the classroom! You can think of novel and innovative ways to keep the children engaged in lessons and provide them with a safe and fun learning environment!
Our Kindergarten Volunteer program offers a great alternative to those hoping to work with younger children! If you are interested in early years care, you will find this project to be perfectly suited to you! You will be helping out the staff in the centre look after and care for the children by assisting in daily tasks, such as encouraging learning through play, distributing meals, and providing a safe and dynamic environment for them to thrive in! Your work would be much appreciated by not only the children, but the staff as well.
Volunteering in Asia is never complete without a tropical island destination, and Bali provides exactly that. Its distinct wildlife and marine life bring droves of visitors every year to experience the unique offerings that Bali has to offer. However, in the process, habitats can be damaged and overrun by overtourism. Why not travel sustainably and volunteer to help conserve the delicate and precious ecosystems present on the island? We have three conservation programs available to you.
What once was a highly bio-diverse and healthy 3 km coral reef, Tianyar’s reef is currently in poor condition due to many years of unsustainable fishing practices with no regard for protecting the marine environment. You could help restore that environment to its former glory! Our Marine Conservation Volunteer Program in Tianyar, Bali will allow you to do exactly that. You will be able to construct artificial reef structures, organise beach and reef cleaning, and educate the local community on the importance of marine conservation! You also have the opportunity to learn to dive and become a qualified PADI diver at an additional cost.
The idyllic beaches lined with lush rainforest of Pemuteran once provided the backdrop for vibrant coral reefs. Much like Tianyar, the reefs face destruction and are in desperate need of conservation work. As well as the previously mentioned conservation efforts, you have the opportunity to work with and analyse data collected on the project.
Fancy working on marine conservation but don’t want to be out in open water? We have the perfect option for you! Our Sea Turtle Conservation Project in Serangan, Bali is a vital program to conservation efforts on the island. You’ll be able to help with their daily care, including assisting with hatching during the season! Volunteering with sea turtles in Bali is closer than you think!
Have we piqued your interest? Good! Are you ready to get started? Even better! Volunteer travel in Bali is only a few clicks away; choose your program, click ‘Apply Now’, complete the registration process, and let us take care of the rest. Pemuteran also has conservation projects that you can join! The volcanic sand beach is a feature of the varied and impressive range of ecosystems that need protecting there. Do you think you could be a part of that?

Packing essentials for volunteering in Bali
Some of our locations are quite rural, and the amenities you would expect to have at home may not be available! Here’s our one-stop-shop guide to essentials you may need when volunteering in Bali!
- Microfibre towels. Towels are not provided, and microfibre towels are a great space-saving alternative to regular towels. They also dry super quickly, making them useful for beach days as well as regular use.
- Reef-safe sunscreen. Not all sunscreens are made equal! Some sunscreens contain chemicals that cause damage to reefs, and if you’re volunteering on a marine conservation program, you may undo all of your hard work! In fact, it’s a good idea to check if all of your toiletries are reef-safe.
- A small bum bag to keep your valuables nearby and handy when on the project and in your free time! Nothing worse than having to hold your phone the whole time.
If you are working with children, it is also advisable to bring some donations to the project you will be joining. For example, colouring books, teaching materials, toys, stationery etc. You can also buy these locally to help support local vendors and small businesses.
What is the best time to volunteer in Bali?
Like many other equatorial destinations, Bali has two seasons; the rainy season and the dry season. The best time to visit Bali is during the dry season, which runs from April/May until September.
If you are hoping to join our marine conservation projects, the weather is most favourable for diving during that time and the beaches are at their most beautiful. That’s not to say that you won’t experience rainy days during the dry season, or indeed that there is no sunshine during the rainy season. If you have a positive attitude and are able to be flexible, you will have the most amazing time - whatever the weather!
Bali is an incredible place that brings flocks of tourists every year. July and August are incredibly busy times, and our programs book up very quickly in that period. It’s best to get started sooner rather than later!
Who Can Volunteer in Bali?
We welcome volunteers from all over the world and different walks of life! We firmly believe that diversity and inclusion can only make the world a better place. We want to champion global citizens with an international vision and a deep commitment to the betterment of our society. Our volunteers should be compassionate, enthusiastic about change, diligent, and open-minded.
Our projects cater to group volunteering in Bali, as well as family volunteering groups, student volunteering, gap year travellers, as well as teenage travellers looking to expand their horizons.
You can easily apply to volunteer in Bali and be a part of our mission trips by following a few simple steps. Once you have decided which program you wish to join, and in which destination, you can go ahead and fill out the application form here.
