What do our past volunteers say?

“I want to thank Volunteering Solutions for all my time in Arusha, for the wonderful people of Tanzania, and for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of patients. It was certainly one of the most memorable moments of my life.” – Carlos D, Short-Term Volunteering, Tanzania

“My experience with Volunteering Solutions was great! I had an amazing time in Thailand teaching Buddhist monks English, travelling, and exploring Thai culture! The whole experience also felt safe and comfortable (if something completely out of one’s comfort zone can still be called that)! I enjoyed everything that happened to me, and am happy that I decided to go!” – Maria K, Elephant Camp Programme, Thailand

Frequently asked questions

What are short-term volunteer opportunities?
Short-term volunteering means contributing to community-led projects abroad for a brief period, often a few weeks. It is ideal for people with limited time who still want a meaningful, immersive experience overseas.
Who can do short-term volunteering abroad?
Volunteers are generally 17 or older, with selected family and high-school programmes for under-18s with extra supervision. Short-term placements welcome students, professionals on leave and first-time volunteers, and most need no prior experience.
What projects and destinations are available short-term?
You can join teaching, childcare, conservation and community projects across 23 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe and Latin America. Many causes offer short-stay options so you can match a project to the time you have.
How much do short-term programmes cost and how short can I go?
Placements start from just 1 week and run up to 24 weeks, with fees from around US£213 per week typically covering accommodation, meals, airport pickup and in-country support. Flights, insurance and visas are extra, so check the programme pages for current pricing.
Can short-term volunteering be ethical and worthwhile?
Yes. As a certified B Corporation, we run community-led, ethical projects where short-term volunteers support continuing local efforts rather than one-off activities. Orientation on arrival and 24/7 in-country support help you contribute responsibly from day one.
