Packing essentials for volunteering in Morocco
With Rabat being the capital city, many items you may need will be readily available! Forgetting something won’t be a problem. Here’s some basics that we suggest taking along with you:
- Comfortable, conservative clothes. Light and airy long sleeved tops and trousers are recommended! Cotton and linen are great options.
- A small bum bag to keep your valuables close by and handy when you’re walking around town and on the project! Nothing worse than having to hold your phone all the time.
- A lightweight scarf or shawl. If you’re visiting a religious site, it’s always handy to have something lightweight to cover up in!
If you are working with children, it is also advisable to bring some donations to the project you will be joining. For example, colouring books, teaching materials, toys, stationery etc. You can also buy these locally to help support local vendors and small businesses.
What is the best time to volunteer in Morocco?
Morocco is spectacular all-year-round, and doesn’t have a dry or rainy seasons, rather the full 4 seasons. If you want to enjoy warm temperatures and sunny spells, spring and autumn are the best times to go. In the summer months, temperatures can rise to 30 degrees celsius, but as a coastal town, there is always a gentle breeze to keep you cool!
It’s always worth checking if your visit will coincide with the Islamic holy month of Ramadan - some sites may not be open and the town may be quieter during the day! However, a visit around the time of Eid would be an enriching cultural experience!

How to get a visa for Morocco?
Before travelling to Morocco, please ensure that you meet the following general requirements:
- Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your expected return date.
- Ensure your passport has at least two blank pages for your visa and other necessary stamps upon arrival and departure.

Is it possible to join short term volunteer programs in Morocco?
Our Morocco volunteer programs are available from 1 week up to 24! If you only have a couple of weeks to make a difference, you’ll find something with us.
Our Childcare program, Teaching English or French,and Womens Education program all have a minimum stay of 1 week, so you’ll be able to get truly involved in supporting the local community!
To accompany your trip to Rabat, we have many tours and travel options available that can fill up an evening or an afternoon!
Is it possible to join long term volunteer programs in Morocco?
Looking to make a longer-lasting impact and truly dive into local custom and tradition? We can certainly help with that! With the ability to stay for almost half the year, you can have an experience like no other.
Our Women’s Empowerment program has a minimum stay of 4 weeks, so for those with extra time, you are more than welcome to join! We can accommodate long-term stays.
