Volunteer in Morocco: The Complete 2026-27 Guide
Blog · August 14, 2026 · 2 min read · By Saurabh
Morocco packs North Africa’s most vivid culture — medinas, mint tea, the call to prayer over whitewashed rooftops — into a country three hours from most of Europe. Our placements run in Rabat and neighbouring Salé, the calm, liveable capital region rather than the tourist crush of Marrakech, which makes it one of the easiest first tastes of volunteering in the Arab world.
Volunteer programs in Morocco
Placements centre on childcare and early-years support, teaching English, women’s empowerment workshops — one of our most requested projects anywhere — and sports coaching with local youth clubs. All include housing in a shared volunteer residence, meals, airport pickup and 24/7 local support; see live prices on our Morocco programs page. You can also browse related women’s empowerment projects.
How much does volunteering in Morocco cost?
Program fees include accommodation, meals, airport pickup, orientation and 24/7 in-country support — the Morocco page shows live prices in your currency for every duration. Budget separately for flights, insurance and weekend travel. As with all our destinations, longer stays bring the per-week cost down sharply.
When is the best time to volunteer in Morocco?
Spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) are ideal — warm days, cool evenings. Summers are hot but coastal Rabat stays milder than inland cities; winters are gentle and green. Ramadan shifts daily rhythms in ways many volunteers find fascinating — projects adapt and the evening iftars are unforgettable.
Visas and getting there
Most nationalities including the UK, EU and US enter Morocco visa-free for up to 90 days. We confirm requirements for your nationality after you apply. Airport pickup is included in every program, and your in-country coordinator confirms arrival details before you fly.
Weekends and travel
Fast trains make weekends easy: Casablanca in under an hour, Fez and Meknes for imperial-city history, Chefchaouen’s blue streets, Marrakech via early train, and Atlantic surf towns like Asilah down the coast.
Is it safe, and who can join?
Volunteers live in vetted accommodation with a coordinator on call around the clock, and every placement operates under our safeguarding policy. The minimum age is 17 for most placements with no upper limit — students, career-breakers, families and retirees all join our Morocco programs. Check our insurance guidance before you book flights.
