How much does volunteering in Vietnam cost?
Program fees include accommodation, meals, airport pickup, orientation and 24/7 in-country support — the Vietnam page shows live prices in your currency for every duration. Budget separately for flights, insurance and weekend travel. As with all our destinations, longer stays bring the per-week cost down sharply.
When is the best time to volunteer in Vietnam?
Vietnam’s climate splits by region: Hanoi has a cool, dry winter (November-April) and hot summer; Ho Chi Minh City is warm year-round with a wet season roughly May-October (short, heavy afternoon showers rather than washouts). Any month works; pick your city by the weather you prefer.
Visas and getting there
Most nationalities need Vietnam’s straightforward e-visa (issued online, typically covering up to 90 days). We walk you through it after you apply. Airport pickup is included in every program, and your in-country coordinator confirms arrival details before you fly.
Weekends and travel
From Hanoi: Ha Long Bay, Ninh Binh’s karst rivers and Sapa’s rice terraces. From Ho Chi Minh City: the Mekong Delta, Cu Chi tunnels and Mui Ne’s dunes. Overnight sleeper trains and cheap flights make the whole country weekend-able.
Is it safe, and who can join?
Volunteers live in vetted accommodation with a coordinator on call around the clock, and every placement operates under our safeguarding policy. The minimum age is 17 for most placements with no upper limit — students, career-breakers, families and retirees all join our Vietnam programs. Check our insurance guidance before you book flights.
