What our volunteers say

Frequently asked questions

Your questions, answered

How to volunteer in Nepal?

A Nepal volunteer experience is a truly unforgettable way to explore the rich and diverse local culture as well as travelling with a difference. Whether volunteering abroad for the first time or as a returning VolSol alumnus, we can help kickstart your volunteering journey in Nepal today! If you’re looking to make a lasting impact on our volunteer programs in Nepal and truly become a global citizen, our teams are ready for you to get in touch and help find the perfect volunteering opportunity for you.

The ‘how’ in how to volunteer abroad in Nepal is a pretty simple process that our team can guide you through. The hard part is choosing a program that you want to get involved in! Our Nepal volunteer programs offer a breadth of opportunities to work with those in need of the support and contributions you can offer. Our programs are in the capital, so you’ll be able to volunteer in Kathmandu!

If you’re looking to volunteer with children, Nepal is the place for you. We have two programs for you to choose from! Our Early Years Childcare Support program is a unique opportunity to volunteer with children from underprivileged families and make a difference to those who really need it. You will be supporting our team in providing the routine care and love for children at the daycare centre, and assisting in daily tasks. This program is great for aspiring childcare providers, and those with an interest in early years development. You’ll be able to see firsthand how your impact can form the basis for a child’s development later in life!

If you’re looking to volunteer with slightly older children, our Teaching Program will give you great insights into the Nepali education system and the development of children in the educational setting! For any budding teachers out there, we recommend this program to you! You’ll be mainly teaching English, but maths, general knowledge, computer science/information technology, and basic hygiene can also be taught. Volunteering in Nepal as a teacher is super easy with us.

Education is not always top priority when you face dire living circumstances. Many people in Nepal are still illiterate, and many children are forced to work to support their families rather than get an education. This is especially true for the women and girls of Nepal. Our Women’s Empowerment Project will allow you to support women claiming their independence.

Your role would be mainly working with married women and teaching them skills that would help them develop in the workplace. Some of it can be English teaching, and increasing their fluency, and you will also be assisting in reading and writing classes.

Medical volunteering in Nepal is also available through us! Our aspiring nurses and doctors will certainly find meaningful volunteering opportunities in Nepal with us.You will shadow healthcare professionals in a hospital in the capital, and learn about medicine and nursing under a new cultural context. You will gain international exposure, alongside new medical insights - invaluable knowledge that will set you apart from your peers!

If you’re looking for something different in a Nepal volunteer experience, our 1 and 2 week specials would be perfect for you, exposing you to the best of Nepali culture, tradition, and history, whilst also allowing you to travel meaningfully, and make a difference internationally.

Have we piqued your interest? Good! Are you ready to get started? Even better! Volunteering in Nepal is only a few clicks away; choose your program, click ‘Apply Now’, complete the registration process, and let us take care of the rest. Get in touch with us today for more information on how we can make your volunteering experience in Nepal unforgettable.

Where to volunteer in Nepal?

Bordering the Himalaya Mountains, Nepal’s landscape is one that will have your head in the clouds! Make sure to bring an ice pack to soothe your sore neck from staring upward! Whilst the endless mountain ranges are what Nepal is predominantly known for, if you venture further south you can explore the lush jungle and see wild elephants and tigers!

Our projects take place in the capital, Kathmandu. A royal and historic city founded in 723 CE; it was then called Manju-Patan. The current name can be translated to ‘wooden temple’. The city is a magical place, full of opportunities for spiritual renewal and relaxation! Kathmandu has many temples of many faiths, and you can find solace in any one of them!

It is also a centre for gastronomy - you can’t say you’ve been to Nepal without having tried their world-famous momos! Imagine gyozas or dumplings, but a heartier bite with more spice and flavour. If you’re interested in an all-you-can-eat style of dining, get a Dal Bhat deal. This is rice and dal (lentil soup), and many places will give you free refills on both!

We have many opportunities to get involved in volunteering organisations in Nepal, we’re sure you’ll find a project that suits your skills perfectly!
