2 Weeks Special Volunteer Program in Nepal
The 2-week volunteering and travel project in Nepal offers volunteers the opportunity to assist local staff in supporting children at a center. Volunteers will help with administration tasks, maintain the center, and contribute to decorating the space. It's a great way to make a difference in the lives of children while experiencing the culture and beauty of Nepal.
This 2-week program places you at a kindergarten or teaching center in Kathmandu, where you support local staff with childcare and classroom activities, help with basic administrative tasks, and pitch in on maintaining and decorating the center. It suits volunteers with no prior childcare or teaching experience who want a short, structured placement combined with travel, and it is open to families.
The program runs for 2 weeks, starting twice a month (sundays), with the next departure on 4 Oct 2026. You live at the volunteer house in Bafal, a residential area near Thamel, sharing breakfast and dinner there with lunch usually provided at the placement. Pricing starts at $844, deposit included. Your role on this program
- Assist local staff with childcare and teaching activities at the kindergarten or center placement in Kathmandu

Role boundaries
You work alongside and under the direction of the center's own staff, who remain responsible for the children in their care; you do not take sole charge of a child or make decisions about a child's welfare. Because this is a 2-week placement, your work supports an ongoing project rather than completing it, and tasks may vary with the placement's needs.

Welcome to Nepal, the country of temples and the Himalayas.
As you arrive, we will meet you at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, and will transfer you to the volunteer accommodation. Pickup timings are between 6 am to 10.30 pm.
Meals – dinner at the accommodation, subject to arrival time.
Day 2 (Monday) – Kathmandu City Tour
In the morning, the coordinator shall be having a short orientation and briefing session for you along with other volunteers. During orientation, you will be given all necessary information regarding the placement, locality, facilities, modes of transport, etc.
After orientation, we will take you for a half day city tour of Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. During the tour, you will visit Kathmandu Durbar Square,Swayambhu Stupa. Temple of Kumari (Living Goddess) and Monkey Temple.

Day 3 (Tuesday) to 6 (Friday) Volunteering in Kathmandu | Half Day Kathmandu Tour on Thursday
Your volunteer work will begin on Tuesday. You will be working at the placements as per the schedule that is pre-fixed. It will be mainly childcare and teaching placements. This volunteering experience will be a really memorable and rewarding experience for you.
On Thursday, afternoon you will going for second leg of Kathmandu City tour covering important landmarks such as Pashupatinath Temple and Boudhanath Stupa.
Meals – Breakfast and dinner at the volunteer accommodation, on all days.
Day 7 (Saturday) to Day 9 (Monday) Weekend Trip to Pokhara .jpg)
On Saturday, you will be going to the beautiful Himalayan destination, Pokhara. Transportation will be arranged for you in a deluxe bus. After reaching Pokhara, you will be picked up from the bus station and dropped to hotel accommodation. Later in the day you will go for a boat ride at the Phewa Lake (included).
Return back to the hotel and afterward, you can have a walk around the bustling market street. You can go to any of the good local restaurants offering authentic Nepalese cuisine.
Day 8 (Sunday)
We will take you to Sarangkot to see the spectacular sunrise.
Enjoy the great view of the snow-clad Himalayas, which glitters in different hues and shades during sunrise. Later, you will be back to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast, we will take you for the local tour of Pokhara and in this tour, you will visit David's fall, Gupteshwar Mahadev Temple and Bindhyabasini Temple.
After this tour, you’ll have the entire day to explore the place on your own. You can try out paragliding or river rafting if you are interested in adventure sports.

Day 9 (Monday)
We’ll check out from the hotel and reach the bus station in Pokhara for taking the bus to Kathmandu. Once you arrive in Kathmandu, reach the volunteer accommodation (on your own) and take some rest.

Day 10 (Tuesday) to Day 12 (Thursday) – Volunteering continues in Kathmandu
You will continue your volunteering and try serving the host community in the best possible way.

Day 13 (Friday) – Trip to Bhaktapur and Nagarkot
On Friday, we shall take you for another amazing day trip to Bhaktapur and then to Nagarkot. Bhaktapur is an ancient city near Kathmandu and you can see the magnificent temples and pagodas throughout the city.
After visiting this city of devotees, we will take you to Nagarkot and you will be amazed to see the splendid views of the Himalayas.
After seeing the sunset at Nagarkot, we will transfer you back to the accommodation in Kathmandu.

Day 14 (Saturday) – Program Ends/Departure
You can check out of the accommodation before noon time. You can contact our program coordinator if you would like to arrange for an airport drop at an additional cost.

The placement, its limits and your part in it
You are placed at a kindergarten or teaching center in Kathmandu, working alongside the center's own staff rather than replacing them. A dedicated coordinator based at the volunteer house in Bafal runs your orientation, accompanies you to the placement, and stays available for support throughout your stay.
Because placements involve children, a clean criminal background check is required before you start, and supervision of children remains with the center's staff at all times; you assist within tasks they assign. Over 2 weeks, your contribution is a short, supporting one to a project that continues after you leave, alongside the fixed sightseeing itinerary that is part of this program.

Airport Transfer
Volunteers and interns are picked up from the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu by a member of the local coordinating staff. Those volunteers who will be already in Nepal will be met by the staff at a designated meeting point decided beforehand.
Accommodation
The volunteer/intern house in Nepal provides a comfortable and welcoming environment for participants during their stay. It is located in Bafal, a peaceful residential area just a 10-minute drive from Thamel, the lively heart of Kathmandu known for its tourist attractions, shops, and restaurants. This location offers the perfect balance of tranquility and accessibility.
Volunteers can enjoy homemade meals, giving them a taste of traditional Nepali cuisine while ensuring their dietary needs are met. The house is equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi, allowing for seamless connectivity with family and friends or managing any personal or professional commitments. A television is also available for relaxation and entertainment during free time.
The accommodation includes all basic amenities needed for a comfortable stay, such as running water, hot water during winters, clean western style toilets and electricity. The living spaces are cozy and inviting, providing a great opportunity for volunteers to unwind and build connections with fellow participants. Orientation
Your local program coordinator will provide an orientation and briefing upon your arrival. Depending on your arrival time, the orientation may be conducted on the same day or the following day. Typically, it lasts about half a day and covers essential topics such as local culture, greetings, key locations, transportation options, and other important details to help you settle in and navigate the area with confidence.
Meals
Two Nepalese meals (Breakfast and Dinner) will be provided to all volunteers depending on your work schedule. Breakfast typically consists of Bread, Butter, Jam, Sandwich, Tea etc. Typical meals provided include Dal (Lentils), Rice, Vegetables, Chicken and meat etc. The staple meal for most Nepalese people is dal bhat, which consists of lentil soup (dal), rice (bhat) and vegetables in curry (tarkari). If you have any special dietary requirements, you can let us know in advance and we can try our best to accommodate that.
During your Free Time
On weekends, participants in Kathmandu often take advantage of the city’s prime location to explore Nepal’s stunning natural beauty and cultural richness. Many choose to visit Chitwan National Park, renowned for its thrilling safari experiences and wildlife, including rhinos, elephants, and tigers. Another popular weekend getaway is the picturesque town of Pokhara, known for its serene lakes, breathtaking Himalayan views, and opportunities for adventure sports like paragliding and trekking.
During weekday evenings, when free time is limited, volunteers frequently spend time in Thamel, a vibrant and bustling area famous among backpackers. Thamel offers a variety of cafés, restaurants, shops, and cultural experiences. Volunteers can also explore Kathmandu’s rich history by visiting iconic landmarks such as the Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), Durbar Square, or the Garden of Dreams, immersing themselves in the city’s unique heritage and atmosphere.
