How much does volunteering in Spain cost?
Program fees include accommodation, meals, airport pickup, orientation and 24/7 in-country support — the Spain page shows live prices in your currency for every duration. Budget separately for flights, insurance and weekend travel. As with all our destinations, longer stays bring the per-week cost down sharply.
When is the best time to volunteer in Spain?
Spring and autumn are perfect in both cities; summers are hot but beach-tempered; winters mild. Marine conservation work is at its best May-October when the Mediterranean is warm enough for long water sessions.
Visas and getting there
EU citizens need no visa; UK and US nationals get 90 days in Schengen visa-free, which covers standard placements. We confirm your specifics after you apply. Airport pickup is included in every program, and your in-country coordinator confirms arrival details before you fly.
Weekends and travel
From Barcelona: Montserrat, the Costa Brava, Girona. From Valencia: the Albufera lagoon, Xàtiva castle, and cheap trains to Madrid or Alicante. Both cities are hubs for €30 flights across Europe.
Is it safe, and who can join?
Volunteers live in vetted accommodation with a coordinator on call around the clock, and every placement operates under our safeguarding policy. The minimum age is 17 for most placements with no upper limit — students, career-breakers, families and retirees all join our Spain programs. Check our insurance guidance before you book flights.

From one week to twelve weeks or more — most volunteers stay two to four weeks, and longer stays deepen both impact and experience.
Do I need experience?
