Common Aussie questions

How quickly can I be on a flight?
Confirmed within 48 hours of booking + documents. Most Aussies are ready to travel in 2-3 weeks from first enquiry. If you're booking Dec-Jan and it's still August-September, you're in the ideal window.
Which insurance covers volunteer work?
Standard travel insurance usually excludes volunteering. Get cover that specifically includes "volunteer work" and (if you're doing construction or wildlife work) "manual labour". Three Aussie providers we've seen work reliably: World Nomads, Cover-More, 1Cover. Budget A$120-350 depending on duration and cover level.
Do I need a visa?
Australian passport holders get either visa-on-arrival or simple e-visa for all 8 destinations. Bali is 30 days visa-free. Nepal, Cambodia, Sri Lanka are visa-on-arrival. Kenya and Tanzania need an e-visa (apply online 3-5 days ahead, USD 50-100).
Can I extend the trip on my own?
Yes — roughly a third of our Aussie participants extend on either end. Popular: Bali → Lombok/Gilis, Vietnam → north-south rail, Nepal → Annapurna trek, Kenya → Serengeti + Zanzibar. We'll help you plan around your programme dates.
What's the group like — will I be with other Aussies?
Programmes typically have 4-12 volunteers from 5-8 different countries at any given time. Aussies are consistently one of the top 3 nationalities alongside British and American students. Everyone speaks English on-site.
Is it safe?
We've been operating in these 8 destinations since 2007-2015 depending on location. Our in-country coordinators do airport pickup and check in daily. Accommodation is vetted, projects are established. Standard Aussie DFAT travel advisories apply — we brief participants on any current advice pre-departure.
What's the cancellation policy?
Our 45-day flexible booking policy: you can change dates or destinations up to 45 days before your programme starts, no penalty. Application fee (A$350) is one-off and stays valid for 12 months across any programme changes.
How do I book?
Enquire on the destination page you're interested in, or via WhatsApp for faster answers. You'll get availability confirmation within 24 hours. Pay the A$350 application fee to lock your dates; programme fee is due 60 days before departure. Total time from first message to flights-locked: usually 5-7 days.
