Which travel insurance covers volunteer work?
Standard UK travel insurance usually excludes volunteering. Get cover that specifically includes "volunteer work" and (for construction or wildlife programmes) "manual labour". Budget £40-120 for 2-4 weeks depending on destination and cover level.
Do I need a visa?
Most destinations are visa-on-arrival or e-visa for UK passports:

- e-Visa online: India (4-30 days), Kenya (eTA), Tanzania

What vaccinations do I need?
Book a travel-clinic appointment 6-8 weeks before departure. Common requirements: Typhoid, Hepatitis A, Tetanus booster (all Asia + Africa). Yellow Fever certificate required for Kenya and Tanzania (if via Kenya) and Ghana. Malaria prophylaxis for parts of India, Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana. Rabies boosters recommended for animal programmes or rural stays 4+ weeks. UK NHS travel clinics or private providers (Boots, LloydsPharmacy) all offer these.
Can I combine volunteering with travel?
Yes — roughly half our UK volunteers extend on either end. Popular routes: Nepal + Annapurna trek (£300-500), India + Golden Triangle + Kerala (£800-1,500), Kenya + Serengeti safari (£350-700), Tanzania + Kilimanjaro (£1,600-2,400), Sri Lanka island loop (£500-1,000), Ghana + Cape Coast (£150-300). What's the group like — will I be with other Brits?
Programmes typically have 4-12 volunteers from 5-8 different countries at any given time. Brits are consistently one of the top 3 nationalities alongside Aussies and Americans. Everyone speaks English on-site. Ages range from 17 (gap year) to 65+ (early retirement volunteering), with the median around 22.
Is it safe?
Our programmes have been running since 2007 without a serious safety incident. In-country coordinators do airport pickup and check in daily. Accommodation is vetted, projects are established. Standard UK FCDO travel advisories apply — we brief participants on any current advice pre-departure. Solo female travellers get a specific safety brief on transport, dress and evening protocol for each destination.
