Construction and Renovation Project in Jaipur
With this project we aim to select vulnerable schools, centers, clinics in Jaipur which don’t have enough money for renovation.Our volunteers help out in renovation and beautification work at the projects.
This program places you at schools, community centers, or clinics in Jaipur that lack the funds to renovate their own buildings. Day to day you help assess what a building needs, check materials with the local coordinator, and then split into groups to carry out renovation, repair, or beautification work such as painting classroom murals. No construction experience is required, and the program is family-friendly, suiting anyone who wants hands-on manual work over a set stretch of time in India.
Placements run for 1–12 weeks, with new starts every week (sundays); the next start date is 20 Sep 2026. You stay in a volunteer house or with a host family in Jaipur and get three cooked meals a day. Prices start at $599 (deposit included). A specific draw here is that projects are rarely repeated: once a building is finished, the team moves on to another school, center, or clinic that needs help, alongside the chance to explore the Pink City and wider Rajasthan on weekends.

Your role on this program
- Help assess what a school, center, or clinic needs in terms of construction or renovation
- Check whether materials are suitable with guidance from the local coordinator

Role boundaries
You do supervised manual and beautification work under the direction of the local coordinator; you do not make engineering decisions, assess structural safety, or manage the project independently. Where a placement is a school or children's center, you follow standard childcare safeguards, including a background check, and do not have unsupervised contact with children.
A typical day and week
Volunteers joining the Construction and Beautification Project are required to follow a basic routine on a daily basis. This covers everything from meals to volunteer work and back. It must be noted that every placement functions at a different pace and on separate timelines making the schedule slightly differ at times. A generic daily schedule for volunteers is as follows :
Saturday: Arrival in Jaipur
Sunday: Orientation presentation and familiarization of the neighborhood. The orientation session will be conducted by the local coordinator, covering topic areas; such as safety, culture, language, places to visit, behavior, food, and other suggestion over things to do in Jaipur.
Monday: Observation visit to the project and needs assessment or meeting with the local team/ staff/ project/ beneficiaries
Tue to Fri: Volunteer work
Breakfast – 07:30 am onwards
Working hours at the placement – Volunteers usually work for 4-5 hours depending on the needs of the project and which facility is decided for renovation.
Lunch – anywhere between 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm (in the accommodation)
Dinner – 7:30 pm onwards
The same volunteer work schedule continues from the second week onwards-Monday to Friday.
Weekends: Free to explore the city

Timings are the placement's usual pattern; the local team confirms your hours at orientation, and they can change with school terms, clinic rotas, weather and the project's needs.

The placement, its limits and your part in it
The project works with vulnerable schools, community centers, and clinics in Jaipur that do not have the budget to renovate or maintain their own buildings. The local coordinating team selects each building, advises on whether materials are suitable, and organizes volunteers into groups with divided tasks, or arranges solo beautification work for individual volunteers.
All work is carried out under the direction of the local coordinator, who oversees material decisions and task allocation. Where children are present, standard safeguarding practice applies and volunteers do not work unsupervised. Your contribution is physical labor and beautification support to an existing local effort, not professional construction or engineering, and projects are rarely repeated once a building is completed.

Accommodation & meals
Airport Transfer
Volunteers are picked up from the Jaipur International Airport by a member of the local coordinating team in Jaipur. Participants already in country can also be picked up from the Jaipur Railway Station or Jaipur International Airport. This needs to be communicated beforehand. We also arrange your drop to the airport when the project is completed.
Accommodation
While volunteering in Jaipur you can choose among staying at one of our Volunteer home base in North of Jaipur or with a host family. The accommodations are neat and clean and provide volunteers a home away from home experience. The volunteer home is equipped with WiFi internet, filtered drinking water, geysers, air coolers, washing machine, western toilets and bunk beds. The home is close to useful amenities like banks, ATMs, currency ex-changers, restaurants, cafes and shopping arcades.
Host-families are local Indian welcoming families ready to receive you in their home. Rooms are dual sharing and hosts have common wifi, fridge, cooler, geysers, washing machine and purified water.
All placements are around 20 – 30 minutes from the homes and we help the volunteers use local transport applications such as Uber.
Orientation
A half day orientation will be provided by our staff on the next day after your arrival. We cover areas like culture, greetings, locations, transportation etc.
Meals
Indian food is famous around the world for its diverse flavours, colors and aroma. While staying at the Volunteer home, you would be provided with self-served breakfast and freshly cooked lunch and dinner, we have cooks who work with us from their homes and prepare meals for the volunteers and deliver to our accommodation. A sample of the meals you can expect are mentioned below.
Self-served breakfast – Bread, Tea (chai), Jam, Butter, Porridge, Poha, eggs, etc.
Lunch and dinner – Dal (lentils), vegetable, rice, roti (indian bread), yogurt may be provided along with some sort of curry.
Volunteers staying at home-stays will have a more traditional Indian breakfast like Poha, Paratha, Poori-sabji, toast, etc. while lunch and dinner are same traditional vegetarian food.
During Your Free Time
During the free time volunteers can visit the local markets, visit internet cafes and the different restaurants in Jaipur and try out the different Indian cuisines. During weekends volunteers explore Jaipur or visit Agra, Pushkar, Delhi and Himachal Pradesh.

Getting there and who looks after you in India
Airport or station pickup
You arrive in Jaipur on a Saturday and are picked up by a member of the local coordinating team from Jaipur International Airport, or from the Jaipur Railway Station if arranged in advance.
First night
You settle into your volunteer house or host family accommodation on arrival day.
Orientation
On Sunday, the local coordinator runs a half-day orientation covering safety, culture, language, local behavior, food, and things to do in Jaipur.
First project day
On Monday you visit the project for an observation and needs assessment, meeting the local team, staff, or beneficiaries before work begins.
Daily routine and support
From Tuesday, volunteer work runs Monday to Friday around meal times, with 24-hour in-country assistance available throughout your stay.
