Women Empowerment & Girl Education Program in Jaipur
Volunteer in the Women empowerment and girls education program in Jaipur - India. The program is open all year round and aims to work for the betterment of girls.
This program places you at a women's empowerment center in a Jaipur slum area, working alongside local staff who run classes for adolescent girls and women. Day to day you help with English conversation practice, health and hygiene sessions, vocational skills such as stitching or basic computer training, and life-skills workshops. It suits volunteers with an interest in women's issues and education who are comfortable working in a culturally conservative setting where most women do not speak English.
You can join for 1–12 weeks, with starts every week (sundays), next departure 20 Sep 2026. You stay in a volunteer house in north Jaipur or with a host family, with three meals a day included at either option. Prices start at $599, deposit included. Volunteer work runs five days a week, leaving weekends free, which many use for trips to Delhi, Pushkar, or the Taj Mahal.

Your role on this program
- Conduct English conversation classes for adolescent girls aged 12-17 to help build their language skills
- Run sessions with women, including married and pregnant participants, on health and hygiene
- Support vocational classes such as stitching, handmade items, or basic makeup and beauty skills
- Provide seminars on nutrition, family planning, and the importance of education
- Assist local staff with adult literacy classes for women
- Offer basic computer training to girls who are interested
- Support life-skill and leadership sessions for adolescent girls

Role boundaries
You assist the center's local staff and coordinators with classes and workshops; you do not run the center's programs independently or replace qualified local staff. Given that participants include adolescent girls and vulnerable women, all sessions are supervised by local staff, and duties may vary with the placement's needs.
A typical day and week
Volunteers joining the women empowerment program in India are required to follow a basic routine on a daily basis. This covers everything from meals to volunteer work and back. It must be noted that every placement functions at a different pace and on separate timelines making the schedule slightly differ at times. A generic daily schedule for volunteers is as follows;

Saturday: Arrival in Jaipur

Sunday: Orientation presentation and familiarization of the neighborhood. The orientation session will be conducted by the local coordinator, covering topic areas; such as safety, culture, language, places to visit, behavior, food, and other suggestion over things to do in Jaipur

The placement, its limits and your part in it
The placement is a women's empowerment center in a slum area of Jaipur, run by local staff who organize the day-to-day classes in English, vocational skills, health, and literacy. Volunteers work under the direction of this local team, supporting existing sessions rather than designing or leading the center's programs.
Because participants include adolescent girls and women in vulnerable circumstances, staff supervise interactions, and a background check is required before you can work with the girls. Your contribution is best understood as additional hands and conversation practice for classes that continue whether or not a given volunteer is present, not as a solution to the broader social and educational challenges the center addresses.

Accommodation & meals
Airport Transfer
Volunteers are picked up from the Jaipur International Airport by a member of the local coordinating team in Jaipur. Participants already in country can also be picked up from the Jaipur Railway Station or Jaipur International Airport. This needs to be communicated beforehand. We also arrange your drop to the airport when the project is completed.
Accommodation
While volunteering in Jaipur you can choose among staying at one of our Volunteer home base in North of Jaipur or with a host family. The accommodations are neat and clean and provide volunteers a home away from home experience. The volunteer home is equipped with WiFi internet, filtered drinking water, geysers, air coolers, washing machine, western toilets and bunk beds. The home is close to useful amenities like banks, ATMs, currency ex-changers, restaurants, cafes and shopping arcades.
Host-families are local Indian welcoming families ready to receive you in their home. Rooms are dual sharing and hosts have common wifi, fridge, cooler, geysers, washing machine and purified water.
All placements are around 20 – 30 minutes from the homes and we help the volunteers use local transport applications such as Uber.
Orientation
A half day orientation will be provided by our staff on the next day after your arrival. We cover areas like culture, greetings, locations, transportation etc.
Meals
Indian food is famous around the world for its diverse flavours, colors and aroma. While staying at the Volunteer home, you would be provided with self-served breakfast and freshly cooked lunch and dinner, we have cooks who work with us from their homes and prepare meals for the volunteers and deliver to our accommodation. A sample of the meals you can expect are mentioned below.
Self-served breakfast – Bread, Tea (chai), Jam, Butter, Porridge, Poha, eggs, etc.
Lunch and dinner – Dal (lentils), vegetable, rice, roti (indian bread), yogurt may be provided along with some sort of curry.
Volunteers staying at home-stays will have a more traditional Indian breakfast like Poha, Paratha, Poori-sabji, toast, etc. while lunch and dinner are same traditional vegetarian food.
During Your Free Time
During the free time volunteers can visit the local markets, visit internet cafes and the different restaurants in Jaipur and try out the different Indian cuisines. During weekends volunteers explore Jaipur or visit Agra, Pushkar, Delhi and Himachal Pradesh.

Getting there and who looks after you in India
Airport or station pickup
A member of the local coordinating team meets you at Jaipur International Airport or Jaipur Railway Station and transfers you to your accommodation.
First day
You arrive and settle into the volunteer house or host family on the day you land, with no project activity scheduled yet.
Orientation
The next day, local staff run a half-day orientation covering culture, greetings, local transportation, safety, and areas of Jaipur.
Observation visit
Before starting regular duties, you visit the project for an observation session and needs assessment, meeting the local team and the women and girls you will work with.
First project day and ongoing support
Volunteer work begins the following day and runs Monday to Friday; the local coordinating team and a 24-hour emergency contact remain available throughout your stay.
